Spinning: Here's Where The Story Ends - The Sundays
Anyone heard of The Sundays? They're a Brit band which I suspect has been away from the music scene for a while now. Anyway, I heard this particular song a long time back when my brother just came back from his studies in the UK. Apparently they were really popular there. I forgot about the song for a long time, until I walked into a departmental store (Boots, I believe) while visiting UK, and heard it again - man, so nostalgic. I love the UK. I want to go back there soon. Z, Mab, XT, Pam may want to go together again (we've agreed to give it some thought when we're earning our own keep) . But that's a long way to go. Still have the damn exams to think about.
O.K., let's see - G.P. was okay, Maths was okay, Lit was okay, Econs will remain the bane of my life. Really lah. The essay questions were so damn alien to me. As I attempted to recall what I'd learnt, I was actually thinking, 'Huh, is this one of the topics tested?'. It was so ridiculous, and I even encountered a mental block - I forgot how to draw the graph depicting shortage and surplus. I was doodling all over the damn foolscap and trying desperately to recall. -_- Later on, I did the MCQ when we were supposed to be doing the DRQ. Needless to say I couldn't finish the damn DRQ, and I was falling asleep during the time allocated for MCQ 'cos I'd finished it and checked through already. That was crap. Total crap. I studied the most for Econs and I'd found it the hardest. It's crazy! I put in at least a week's worth of studying for Econs, and way less than that for Maths and Lit, and i found the latter 2 easier! Where's the logic!? So it's a guaranteed fail - that's an 'F' for econs.
Tomorrow's final paper is Geography, and I have a nagging feeling I won't be able to finish studying by today, all thanks to Econs. -_-
I always feel damn miserable when studying for exams. Always telling my sister how much I don't like it in JC - even she says the Uni will be more relaxed, not so hectic. Grrr.
BTW, I got into the Psychology Elective! Heh. Quite happy because I wasn't expecting my entry to be shortlisted. We had to write short paragraphs on 2 topics, (which aren't really what you'd talk about amongst friends, or, erm, people in general) and from there they'd choose. 100 over applicants. Damn I feel so fortunate... It's quite surprising 'cos out of the 16 shortlisted, 4 were from our class. That's a lot, considering the fact that the other classes had 1 or 2 reps only. That's just the beginning, though. I really hope I can cope with this additional course. I don't want to give up on it 'cos it's going to give a bad impression, and I remember I wanted it badly. Now that I've got it, I shouldn't waste the chance, like I did 3 years back with French Language. (I dropped it after a year. Shouldn't have.) FYI, I've uploaded some of the UK photos - the nicer ones. I've got loads more with other people because of my lousy digi-cam's limited space and battery life. Going to buy a new one soon. Any recommendations? Not just the brand, I need some specific recommendations, like the brand AND the model no. Later.

The things lunaticism does to you
I haven't forgotten about the UK post, it's just that I haven't uploaded my photos yet, so look for it soon. There are a million, gazillion things I want to blog about. A) Elitism (more on that next time) B) UK Trip, yet current circumstances do not allow me the time and brain juice to do so. (Excuses.)
Meanwhile, I've got some interesting stuff to unravel here. Next week's the start of Mid Year Exams, and you know what that means, right? It means Yokey turns into a fuming, raving, loony. Yeah, for the whole week. So what did I go and do again, other than running around my asylum of a study room? This:
My japanese name is 猿渡 Saruwatari (monkey on a crossing bridge) 三千代 Michiyo (three thousand generations). Take your real japanese name generator! today! Created with Rum and Monkey's Name Generator Generator.
Yeah. If I didn't know the literal translation, it would sound perfectly fine. Saruwatari Michiyo. Sounds incredibly elegant, no? Then I read the translation, and my bubble was burst. I don't know what to make of it - is it 3 thousand generations of monkeys on a crossing bridge? Or is it a monkey crossing a 3 thousand generation old bridge? Either way, I'm pretty sure that bridge will collapse anytime soon. Damn.
Anyway, I wasn't exactly happy with that result, so convincing myself it was okay to be self-deluded for this once, I typed in my Christian name in place of my dialect name.
My japanese name is 猿渡 Saruwatari (monkey on a crossing bridge) 千秋 Chiaki (very fine in autumn). Take your real japanese name generator! today! Created with Rum and Monkey's Name Generator Generator.
Saruwatari Chiaki. Romaji (Romanisation of the Japanese language) wise, I prefer the former result. Translation wise, perhaps this would be better. At least my given name has something to do with a season, and is not hinting that I'm a 3000 generation old monkey.
Yeah, the things lunaticism does to you.
P.S.: During my course of studying, I got hooked onto at least 4 new Japanese dramas, out of which I've finished 1. I just feel so damn good watching them I can't resist raving about it a little here.
P.S.S.: Kudos to the quiz creators. I was thoroughly amused by the results.

What did I expect?
Spinning: Dreams Come True - Nandodemo (何度でも)
SJ's Annual Leisure Camp Social Night was held last Sunday (29/5/05). Coincidentally, it was also the day that my good friend/squadmate Laura, fondly referred to as Lat, was scheduled to return to Singapore for a break from her studies in the US. Lat is a really nice person. By 'nice' I mean someone who doesn't really expect anything in return for her kindness, unlike many other people out there, who, on the pretext of being 'kind' to you, really expect you to return the favour. Being a genuinely nice squadmate, most of us really like her, and almost immediately upon hearing news of her return, plans were made to receive her at the airport and to go gallavanting around Orchard with her.
Thus we did. When she arrived, she was so overwhelmed when she saw us (typically her) and screamed in excitement, hugging people who were at the airport to receive her. We let her go home to take a rest first, while the rest of us went to Orchard Road (Bah. Again.) to, presumably, shop for some stuff. To make things better I told them that I had to shop for stuff for the UK trip. (Which, BTW, is in 2 days time!) Took a rest at McCafe near Cineleisure and catched up on stuff happening to us while guzzling on the Mocha Frappes that Lat treated us to.
Apparently, Lat has grown a wee bit plumper (yet not quite overweight) thanks to the Chinese 'Chow Mein' as they call it in the US, and her physical appearance has become more mature. She talked of the lifestyle in the US, which is pretty intriguing. It's totally different from our lifestyle here, and yes, I would think that I wouldn't be able to live in such an independent lifestyle! I mean, even the UK trip - I have my own qualms about travelling alone with friends (and a few teachers).
Oh well. And not much has changed here. On a more sombre note, I went for the exco interview yesterday, and I think I kinda screwed up the entire interview. Nonetheless, I'm certain I was as honest and sincere as I could be, and that's enough. Contrary to what I thought I would feel throughout the interview, I wasn't really nervous. I didn't clasp my hands like Cheryl and Pearl Ning advised me not to, and I didn't have shifty eyes. I looked at the interviewers. Perhaps, maybe, somehow, my demeanour toward such stuff has changed. I don't know.
As for social night - well, all I've got to say was that it was just erh... kind of boring. Not exactly the performances, but mostly because I was sitting at the viewing gallery and just watching. I felt really detached from them. And I guess it's going to stay that way for people who never signed on. Lat took quite a number of photos, but I'm yet to receive it from her. If you're reading this Lat, you know what to do?
To end this off let's just say, I buay tahan the politics of whatever that I am involved in. I really buay tahan. Labels: events
