Cotopaxi and Chimbozaro...
are really names of funny andesitic volcanoes which are found somewhere within the Andes Mountains. Can you bloody believe it - I have to memorize these strange names! It's like learning a whole new language - I think it's really either African or South American.
I am so pissed off! My short-term memory is severely damaged - I can't seem to remember anything I tried to memorise in the last 10 minutes. I seriously feel like i'm sinking in quicksand.
Pah. Anyway prior to posting this I visited a forum (that same forum where I took out that quote about Singapore being clean) and I read a series of posts from this idiot of a guy who was really full of himself. He is, apparently, very highly educated. And he seems to be too proud of it. Far too proud. More on these species later. Labels: exams, school

Feeling like you're floating is a bad sign.
Spinning: Leave Me Alone - Portishead feat. Natalie Imbruglia There's not much mercy to be found nowadays. I feel like I'm floating thanks to my medication but I still have to do my written report regardless. Now that I've dealt with it, there's no cause for celebration because I'm still left with 24 Hardy poems to do critical analysis on. Bah. And my question is, how the hell do you guys expect us to study with this steady stream of homework coming in from all corners? Wait. "Stream" would be an understatement. More like barrage/flood. Sure I'm afraid. 'Cos I've barely started on my revision. But I have no time to let this fear manifest itself and start going on a panicking spree. It's no time to panic (I say this but I know I will panic a few days before the exam). Anyhow, I'll have to force myself to start revising NOW. After I've done the Hardy work of course. I mentioned feeling floaty because of medicine. Well my immune system has finally given way and I'm down with some stupid throat infection. Probably caught it in school, 'cos it was very sudden. The only thing good about this is that I can rest at home for a few more days (other than the weekend) - supposing I have time to rest, that is. Bah. You see how merciless, how 无情 they can get? On another note, I'm watching HK drama War and Beauty (金枝欲孽) on cable tv now. Some epic about the Forbidden Palace and its women. If you expect plenty of catfights - you won't be disappointed. Thing is, the catfights aren't just all-out physical contests of who can scratch deeper. The catfights are more mind-game based, and that's what makes it interesting. Male 'leads', if I can call them that, take a backseat and are more supporting characters than lead characters... heh. Damn I couldn't resist talking about this show. Hm. I don't sound like myself in this post. Or maybe it's just psychological... Anyways, I'll leave you with a few photos. I know just how visual you people are. Don't deny it - if this blog were template-less, you wouldn't even be looking at it! :) Heh. First a very normal looking shot. Amande can sure use her pic here for job application purposes. Looking all smart. Then a candid one. You can actually make out someone's character from a photo like that. Just look at Mabel. Ever ready for the camera. Ready with her fishy pose. Isaac. Looking grumpy at the corner. Pamela. Laughing at dunno what. Xiao Ting. Totally oblivious to the camera. Shouvik? I don't know what he's looking at.

"I like it, it's clean"
Taken off a discussion forum: "It's kinda sad that most foreigners use "clean" to descibe this little dot we call home. Like there's no other adjectives more apt." By the way, the 'foreigner' in question was a female HK celebrity. But that's not really important. The thing is - how come almost every foreigner, when asked about what he thinks of Singapore, gives that ever politically correct answer of: "I like it, it's clean". It's true, I'd say where I live in is really clean compared to a lot of other countries... but aren't there any other things they have to say about Singapore? Labels: musings

Holiday? What holiday?
I don't know why - when I thought of this title, I laughed. What's in my mind is this image of a bimbotic lass scrunching up her nose and squeezing her cheeks inwards to form an 'O' out of her lips. She's damn blur. That is not, of course, to say that that girl is really me. (shudder)
I don't deny, however, that it really is what I'm thinking now. It's as if there's no 1 week holiday. And since you readers are mostly friends going through the same fate as I am, you'd likely do that bimbotic expression. 'WHAT HOLIDAY, you tell me?!'
Yes, people. The September holidays are here... yawn. It's amazing how our reactions change as we grow older. I vaguely remember in primary school, I would do a little celebration dance in private when I reached home on the last day of school. Kooky, yes, but I was genuinely happy. 'Cos the hoildays were here -- i.e., no need to study, no need to slog my way through any sort of notes... and I could play all I like. This year - I came home late on the last day of school thanks to CCA. Lugged my guitar home - and I wasn't particularly happy that day, 'cos I had a premonition of sorts - it's really quite scary.
I predicted that the coming week wouldn't be very enjoyable. I was right. Wow. I feel so self-righteous. But this time, it's true. Even as I sit typing away at the keyboard of mine... I feel uneasy. When I play my PS2, guilt sets in. When I do my Math, I tear at my hair. I get pissed. It's a lose-lose situation. I know that time is ticking away - and because I'm stubborn, I don't want to drop either Geography or Literature, which are really my interests... I need to do OK for this. I say, OK, because when it comes to exams, I don't want to place my hopes too high.
This 1 week holiday, you say? It's really just a study break in disguise. There's no such thing as a holiday, especially at this time of the year. And wow, I can't wait. Just a year more, and I'll be spared of these pseudo-hoildays. Charming.

Errrgh!?
WARNING: Do not emulate the above photo! It was taken in a moment of boredom, really. Word had gotten round SCG 35 that the Psychology Elective peeps (i.e. Pamela, Mabel, Me) were doing a presentation on suicide. Why? Because we were reciting away our scripts right in front of them. So much so, they decided to join in the fun. Heh. More photos coming soon. I've just finished my PW EOM. It was seriously one time consuming assignment. I've kind of given up on my Literature test. It's overwhelming. And on another note... I didn't manage to go back to my alma mater this year. Unfortunately, my school decided not to let us have a half day. It's just too bad. I'm not going to complain anymore. Too tired.
