Spinning: Empire State of Mind - Alicia Keys

I was cleaning up my internet bookmarks when I came across the special folder I created for exchange; where I dumped all the useful sites I used on exchange into. And 1 year from exchange, I realize how cute some of them are.

Highlighted in red, the giggle-worthy ones are

Pack Light Pack Smart - cos I was tired of lugging around heavy backpacks. This one taught me how to roll up my clothes and use ziplocs where possible :)

Snow Cycling Techniques at nuttycyclist (how apt!) - because absolutely NO ONE in their right mind cycles in snow, this was one of the few sites which taught me how to cycle safely in snow around Uppsala.

Snoddas - These are like Swedish chocolate cakes sprinkled with coconut shavings. THEY ARE SO HEAVENLY. But you can only find these in Scandinavia. I first ate them in Kiruna at sub-zero temperatures and took them with coffee, oo lala. Then when I came back to Uppsala I wanted to re-create them. Never had the time to though.

Ryanair Flight Connection and Transit Planner - A genius schoolmate of mine who went on exchange too created a computer program that helped plan routes for us based on Ryanair's limited airports. Total lifesaver.

Simsocial - I went crazy about The Sims 3 in Sweden and yeah, this was a small game for days when I didn't feel like going out.

Saving $ on Exchange - Need I say more? heh.

Help me, I'm turning into a Stepford Wife!

Actually, not really. It's just that lately, I've had this very, very strange weird habit of turning to cooking and baking as a therapeutic activity. I've noticed that I tend to go into a random cook / bake-off sometimes especially when I'm feeling stressed, angry, or upset. It almost always dissipates the strongest emotions within me.

Just this afternoon, after clocking 5 non-stop hours of work at the laptop, I couldn't take it anymore and declared it 'tea-time', and went to search for pancake recipes online and went downstairs to the kitchen, mixed up a pancake mixture and started flippin' some. Jeez.

Oh gawd. Tell me this is not some innate, womanly (even motherly? HORRORS!) trait that is starting to surface only after 21 years.

Mafia Gunfight!

So before I forget my dream (again) last night, I'm gonna typetype it all out!

Another absurd one, and oh my goodness I really think it's too much sleep that leads to weirdass dreams. And I think watching a quirky ol' weird movie like Coraline helps too.

So anywayy, I was in a bathroom and I was brushing my teeth, and suddenly this hand wielding a gun pops out when I open the medicine cabinet above the sink, and just before it fired at my face, I had forcibly bent the hand downwards so the gun fired at the floor. Following which I heard a commotion outside, with lots of gun shots, so I quickly snatched the gun away from the hand (I know, WEIRD, SURREAL.) and ran out of the bathroom... only to find myself...

...embroiled in a mafia war (don't ask) involving Russians, Italians, Spaniards and the Chinese. We were in this room with tables strewn all over forming barricades on either side of the room, so it was like some gunfight thing in a classroom. I was a total noob with the gun and I was trying to reload it but I failed, and the Spaniard beside me kept providing me with cover and eventually, somehow, taught me how to operate the pistol. So after some shooting and ducking behind cover, the gunfight finally ended, and we ran out to the open; and gasp, I found myself in...

...the campus of NUS BIZ FAC HAHAHA. Then somehow, we were trying to defend our fort (the school) from Russian soldiers, and were quite stubborn about holding our territory. And finally someone shouted! "THEY"RE HERE IN FULL FORCE! RUN!" and I saw siege weapons being rolled in together with old-school knights marching in! That's when I started to panic, and started making a break for it.

I saw some friends (but from very different groups in my life) around, making a break for it too, and all the time they were yelling, "What're you waiting for! RUN!"

And so I did; I ran and ran, out of the biz fac and for what seemed to be the longest time I just kept running and running, even though it seemed like after a certain point it was safe and people were thinking why was I running like a mad woman.

And finally I stopped, and found myself in the ENGINEERING FACULTY HAHAHAH. That was when I woke up.

Oh my god, what a strange dream! But I like the action packed nature of it, these days my dreams have been very action packed, and that's just awesome!

On Fire

HAHA ok its been awhile since I've had such a vivid dream but the one I had last night was quite funny.

In this dream I was Firewoman Yokey, and there was this huuuuuge raging fire at a HDB block of flats and I, together with my partner (also a Firewoman), had to go extinguish the fire and save people. And this firewoman, her face seems really familiar and it seems like I'm supposed to know her but okay, I forgot who she was.

So the command centre of the whole operation was at the HDB covered carpark nearby the block, and so we went to save people from floors 1-4. Then when we went back, the officer told us not to go back anymore despite there still being people inside because 'the fire was out of control' and it was 'impossible' to do anything more.

So being the self-righteous freak in the dream that I was, I shouted, 'NO! We can't leave them behind'. So partner and I rushed into the HDB block once again - and we climbed up the stairs (funny how my brain registers that there are no lifts allowed during a fire). Then when we opened the stairwell door, my partner said, "I smell mosquito coil". And I saw thick black smoke billowing out from the door of the nearest unit.

Then I opened the door and FWOOM, this huge fire leapt out and I went - all coward like - 'AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH' 'cos my butt caught on fire. So I rolled around for a bit, then we rushed in to do some rescuing, and then I woke up.
