As cliche as this is going to sound, I'm going to say it anyway. Time flies. At the speed of a bullet train. A year ago during the December Holidays, I remember nervously anticipating my new year in a new school. 2005's holiday, I was rotting, and for the last 2 weeks, anxiously completing my homework.
2006 has begun. I made a smooth, swift transition from 2004-2005, although I was in a new environment all together. This year, I don't know, man. I probably left my mind behind in 2005. I haven't gotten out of the 2005 mindset; sometimes I find it hard to swallow that I'm in the final year of college. That this time next year, I'd be choosing between a bevy of universities to attend. Here I am muddling my way through homework, tests/exams, and sticky obstacles that any person would encounter. And before I know it - bam - I'm sitting in an examination hall for the A levels. All these seemed so far away when I was in secondary school/primary school. What lies ahead is pretty daunting - the fact that I'd have to leave my books behind and step into the working world pretty soon.
There's been many changes I've had to embrace since the start of this year - a screwed up timetable, more work despite the down-sized number of subjects [Announcement here: I have officially dropped Econs.] , and well - The shift from Civics Group to Subject Combination Group. That last change, I welcome completely. I was never friendly with most of my Civics Groupmates anyway - I just couldn't talk to them properly. A conversation lasting more than 1 min with them would've felt awkward and stifling. So this year, I was really happy about being with my SCG mates most of the time. These are people whom I can talk to without punctuating out-of-place "Ummm"s and "Ahhh"s and "Errrr"s midway through conversations; People who are dimensional, and who are not afraid to express their honest opinions. So that's a good change.
The screwed-up timetable I have though, means that I'd reach my favourite place on Earth later. For those who aren't in the know, my favourite place on Earth = home. My lessons end at times like 4.15, and the latest, 6.15. With the additional CCA times, it means 2 out of 5 days, I reach home just in time for dinner (that's 7 p.m. Are you baulking at the details of my private life yet?). Admittedly, I was frustrated when I first received the timetable. Surprisingly though, I've begun to calm down and face this with a more measured attitude. I conclude that the long-lost optimist in me has finally surfaced after XX years. My train of thought was something like that on 3rd Jan:
"Bloody @&$%!#&@$^@! @($^@#, so late *#^$@#("
It got more positive and less vulgar on the 6th:
"3%*(#&$... Aiyah. I'm going to embrace this and make something good out of it."
Old friends, rejoice. I'm no longer grumpy ol' Yokey. New friends, you probably haven't heard of who's that yet, so just ignore that.
On another note - am I the only one who thinks these "Super _____" programmes on local TV are in overdrive? Oh, of course I know they are exceptionally huge cash cows... but oh, whatever.
I'm going to leave you guys with a view of Tower Bridge, London, UK :)
