Spinning: Mika Nakashima - Yuki no HanaI've never been that sort of person who is daring enough to step up and start talking to a huge group of people staring back at me. Years ago this situation would have been worse. I'd shrink away from such opportunities - maybe joining a U group helped. Right now I still feel I'm not that kind of person who has THAT kind of leadership skills. But at least I don't shrink away anymore. Nonetheless when I attended the leadership camp briefing... I was very apprehensive, and still am, actually. It's the kind of camp that every cadet in a U group has gone through at least once - that kind of outdoor camp. OBS style, only less physically/mentally demanding. Just some points I took note of:- Its Amazing Race is going to be held in Sentosa. Freak. Now SJ mates would know why I listed this as one of the factors that is holding me back - Yeah, what an 'Amazing Race' we had in Sentosa before, huh? I've officially dubbed it as of now - the One Where Cheryl Broke her Sandals. Fine. This one may be different... I'll give it a benefit of a doubt.
- Raft-building: I dunno a crap about tying knots.
- The instructor claims that there'll be lots of inter-human conflicts. Wow, that's something I so look forward to.. not! If there's anything I cannot stand, it's conflicts.
- It's giving me back that feeling of being a cadet in a U group all over again. Packing my camp bag.. argh.
- It's held during the Weekend. Which means all hw which was originally due on Monday would have to be completed today. Sigh.
- We're sleeping in tents. Though it's only one night, the last time I slept in one, I ended up lying on wet grass, thanks to the person who conveniently bumped me off the sleeping board -_-
I sound like a super wimp don't I. I seriously am just tired of such camps. I've been to at least 5 of them. They drill the same message - everyone is a leader. Yeah, and where do the followers come in?
Man, I know I'm being negative about this whole affair - and those who failed to land a position in the camp are probably going to murder me when they read this. And I'm aware, how cool and fun the camp turns out to be pretty much depends on how I approach it. So I'm going to face it with a positive mentality i guess. It might turn out to be like the Sec 3 level camp... tiring but fun. Ok. I hope I hope I hope. Camps are very very troublesome, but I do like the adrenaline and adventure that comes with it. Things that you won't get to do when you're old. Officially a working adult... So I'm grabbing every opportunity to do those stuff. The only thing that's bad is the troublesome stuff ... i.e. bunking in with people who bump u off the sleeping board and continue snoring after you pour water on their faces.
BTW, I'm GOING TO UK!!! Haha! I took alot of time to persuade my ma to let me go and that I can take care of myself, so I'm really happy that I finally have a chance to travel out of Asia for once. I just want to see how its really like there - the culture, the history, the people, EVERYTHING la, basically. It's actually a humanities trip where we go with our friends, so yeah. Man, I'm looking forward to it... :) heh heh.
